“Don’t look now but the spirits of Boston rock past have come out to play. Boston has its share of haunting love songs, but Lou Miami’s “(I Live with) Ghosts” is a truly haunted one. Miami was a true original and way ahead of his time; the goth scene would’ve loved him if there’d been one in ‘86. Few current bands know their way around a moody love song like the Cold Expectations. They give this one a more rockin’ treatment, bringing those ghosts back to dance among us.” (Brett Milano, Boston Herald/Sound of Our Town)
Lou Miami was the outrageous front man for Lou Miami & The Kozmetix, a staple on the early 80’s Boston punk/glam scene and a fixture at Cantone’s for Theme Night Mondays, always audacious and outlandish; by all accounts the place was generally packed to catch Lou’s antics. Famous for their maniac live shows, they released two records and played the Boston underground scene relentlessly, sharing bills with the likes of Mission of Burma, Le Peste, Del Fuegos and many more.
Cold Expectations are intent on keeping the spirit of Lou Miami and weirdo underground rock alive with their cover of “(I Live with) Ghosts” which features over-the-top guitar heroics from James Melanson (Little Billy Lost/Smitt E. Smitty & The Feztones) and a dramatic video to follow, produced by Joan Hathaway.
Long live the spirits of our fellow unheralded creative geniuses that walk among us.
